“Chrysalis of Rebirth” delves into the profound transformation and reshaping of an individual or existence, identity, or nature, focuses on the continuous process of change and reformation in personal experiences, philosophy, nature, mythology, and culture. The exhibition, curated by Bengü Gün, does not frame rebirth as a rejection of the past, nor as a simple continuation of it. Instead, it explores how existence is continuously reshaped in pursuit of a deeper, more meaningful existence, inviting visitors to reflect on this perpetual process of becoming.
Curator Bengü Gün says; “In the labyrinth of contemporary existence, in a world where the boundaries of identity, culture, and memory are fluid, we find ourselves in a constant state of becoming. Rebirth is not a singular moment, but a continuous process—a series of shifts and transitions that redefine our understanding of the self, the collective, and the spaces we inhabit. While the exhibition deeply examines rebirth, it explores it as a multidimensional concept that is part of nature, culture, mythology, philosophy, and the personal narratives of the artists. Here, rebirth is not just a beginning or an act of forgetting the past; it’s a strong reflection of our ongoing efforts to reconstruct our identity, surroundings, and lives according to new situations and environments, through existential renewal and personal transformation. The exhibition considers how different traditions, histories, and lived experiences shape the understanding of renewal whether through nature’s cycles, the revitalisation of space, or the evolution of rituals and cultural meaning in changing times.”
Featuring ten artists, “Chrysalis of Rebirth” explores how transformation and recreation are shaped through the interplay between memory, imagination, destruction, and creation. The exhibition invites visitors to reconsider the meaning of rebirth: Is it merely a beginning, or is it the reimagining of life through the lens of acceptance and transformation? The works highlight the complexity of renewal, offering a compelling meditation and profound inquiry into the cyclical nature of existence—spanning life, art, and society.
