Özgül Arslan has been actively engaged in art production since the late 1990s. The artist graduated from Marmara University’s Faculty of Fine Arts with a degree in Painting in 1998. Subsequently, she completed her pedagogical formation at the same university.
Since 2001, Arslan has participated in numerous group exhibitions worldwide, in addition to presenting solo exhibitions such as "Analogy," "2+1," "Erased Traces," "How Many Steps Does Far Take!" "Exposure," and "Aesthetical Interference," especially in Istanbul.
With over twenty years of experience as an art educator, Arslan has worked extensively with children and young people. She has developed numerous exhibition projects and facilitated the realization of exhibitions through a multifaceted production approach.
In her artistic endeavors, Arslan explores the conceptual and formal dimensions of the body, object, and space, focusing on the personal and societal definitions of the “distance and contact” relationship between individuals, the physical world, and space/nature. Embracing a conceptual, formal, multidisciplinary, and pluralistic hybrid narrative, her works—exhibited in public spaces and site-specific installations—document the process of showcasing and the audience’s interactions.
Arslan’s artistic expression spans various media, including drawing, painting, textiles, printmaking, digital photography, video, ready-made objects, site-specific performances, and installations centered around contemporary themes.
Born in Turkey, the artist currently resides and creates in London.
